One to one, never a group

What does one to one maths tuition with Educamus involve?

An hour a week, with one tutor who stays with your child for the whole course. That tutor works out where the marks are actually going: a shaky bit of algebra from S2, a topic that was missed during a run of absences, or exam technique that falls apart under time pressure.

Educamus does the matching before anyone teaches anything. A course consultant asks about the level, the school, what your child is finding hard and how they like to work, then puts them with a tutor who suits all four. Get the pairing wrong and the next session is free with someone else.

Sessions run at your home in Glasgow or through the online classroom, and whichever you pick your child sees the same face each week, with progress reports coming to you as the course goes on rather than a report card in June telling you something you could have fixed in November.

  • Vetted tutors, all PVG compliant under Scotland’s Protecting Vulnerable Groups scheme
  • A dedicated course consultant you can phone, rather than a booking inbox
  • Teachers, professional tutors and strong university students, including a partnership with Glasgow University Rocketry
  • Regular progress reports, plus access to the Educamus employability workshop

Which maths levels do you tutor in Glasgow?

Primary counting through to Advanced Higher calculus, plus the qualifications Glasgow pupils sit alongside them.

7 +

Primary maths

Times tables, place value and the mental arithmetic that everything later leans on. Most primary work is about getting a child to stop bracing before a number question.

P1 to P7

National 5 Maths

Where a lot of Glasgow pupils first hit a wall. Quadratics, trigonometry and the reasoning questions at the end of Paper 2 are the three that swallow the most marks.

S4, also National 4
dy/dx

Higher Maths

The jump from National 5 catches out even strong pupils, because the pace roughly doubles and almost nothing gets revisited. Differentiation, integration and the vectors unit take up most of our Higher hours.

S5 and S6
ab cd

Advanced Higher Maths

Matrices, complex numbers and proof, taught online so your child gets the specialist rather than whoever is free nearby. Brodie came to Educamus with an A at Higher and left Advanced Higher with another one.

Online only

Applications of Maths and Numeracy

Money, statistics, measurement and the real world questions this course is built on. It rewards a different skill from the Maths course, so it gets taught differently.

National 4 and 5

GCSE and A Level Maths

Glasgow families sitting English board exams are covered too, along with college and university maths. All of it runs through the online classroom.

What do parents say about Educamus?

Reviews left on Google and Trustpilot by families who booked tuition.

Couldn’t recommend these guys enough. Proof is in the pudding though and it’s really shown her potential getting an A for her Math prelim, when her aim was initially to just get a pass.

My S2 son has been having weekly online Maths tuition with Ryder for a few months now. In his latest Maths test since the tuition he scored 82% which has given him a much needed boost. Ryder has been superb at building his ability and confidence!

Highly recommend educamus tuition, Elise is amazing. Elise set and marked homework / past papers. This gave Abby the confidence for the exams, and Abby reached her potential.

How does it work once you get in touch?

Four steps, and nothing to pay until you have spoken to a consultant and picked a tutor.

Send the consultation form

Tell us the level, the subject and roughly where in Glasgow you are. It takes about a minute.

A consultant calls you

Within 24 hours. You talk through what is going wrong, what the goal is and whether home or online fits better.

We match a maths tutor

Chosen on subject, level and personality. If the fit is wrong, the next session is free with a different tutor.

Weekly sessions begin

An hour a week, same tutor, same slot. Progress reports come to you as the course goes on.

How much does a maths tutor cost in Glasgow?

One published rate per format, VAT included. Sessions are an hour and are paid for when you book.

Where the tutors travel

Which parts of Glasgow do your tutors cover?

Home tuition runs right across the city and into the surrounding towns, always subject to a maths tutor being free in that area on the night you want, which is the one thing no tuition company can promise in advance. Where nobody local is free, the online classroom covers every postcode in Scotland.

Questions parents ask before booking a maths tutor

The nine that come up most often on the consultation call. Anything not here, ask a consultant.

How much does a maths tutor cost in Glasgow?

One hour of home maths tuition in Glasgow is £50. One hour online is £45. Advanced Higher, GCSE, A Level and college maths are £55 an hour and are taught online only. All prices include VAT and sessions are paid for in full when you book.

Will my child get the same maths tutor every week?

Yes. Educamus gives every student the same tutor each session, because progress in maths comes from someone who remembers what you got stuck on last week.

If the pairing turns out to be wrong, the next session is free of charge with a different tutor.

Are Educamus maths tutors PVG checked?

Yes. Every Educamus tutor is vetted and PVG compliant under Scotland’s Protecting Vulnerable Groups scheme.

Tutors are a mix of qualified teachers, professional tutors and strong university students. Educamus is partnered with Glasgow University Rocketry, which is where a number of the STEM tutors come from.

Which maths levels do you cover in Glasgow?

Primary maths, S1 to S3 Broad General Education, National 4, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Maths, plus Applications of Maths and Numeracy. GCSE Maths, A Level Maths and college or university maths are taught online.

Is home tuition or online maths tuition better?

Younger pupils, and anyone who works better with a person sitting beside them, usually do best at home. Online tends to win at Higher and Advanced Higher, because it opens up the whole Educamus tutor network rather than only the tutors free in your part of Glasgow that evening.

Advanced Higher, GCSE and A Level are online only. Your consultant will talk this through before you book anything.

How quickly will we hear back after a consultation request?

Within 24 hours. A course consultant calls to go through your child’s level, where the marks are being lost and how they learn, then matches them with a tutor.

The consultation is free and there is nothing to pay until you book a session.

How many hours of maths tuition does my child need?

Educamus recommends at least one hour a week, and sessions are an hour long. Weekly is what turns a shaky topic into a secure one before the next one lands on top of it.

Some families add a second hour in the run up to prelims and then drop back.

Can you help a student who is already getting good maths grades?

Yes. Plenty of Educamus students are chasing an A rather than a pass, or are stepping up from Higher to Advanced Higher Maths.

Brodie came in with an A at Higher Maths and finished Advanced Higher with another A.

What happens if we have to cancel a maths session?

Sessions are paid for when you book. Give as much notice as you can and Educamus will try to move the session to another date at no extra cost.

A cancellation inside 24 hours of the start time may still be charged. Where a refund is due it is processed within three working days.
